Permacomputing, a term coined in an essay by Ville-Matias Heikkilä, describes an approach to technology that aligns with permaculture in sustainability and use of resources.

Instead of utilizing a greater number of resources to control things (i.e relying on Moore’s Law) within an environment, it employs elements of nature to carry out work. The idea extends beyond tech and into cultural and political and design concepts.

It encourages maintainability and accountability, as well as sharing of resources in the public domain. It also promotes adoption of solutions for local community needs via decentralization and modularity and composability.
